Joshua trainer confirmed ahead of comeback as heavyweight links up with Usyk

The former world champion returns to the gym following a personal tragedy, receiving technical guidance from rival Oleksandr Usyk.

Two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has returned to training under the guidance of coach Iegor Golub, aiming for a comeback fight later this year. Joshua had previously stepped away from the sport following a tragic car accident in Nigeria that resulted in the deaths of two of his close friends.

Golub, who worked with Joshua during his successful preparation for his bout against Jake Paul, shared social media updates showing the heavyweight boxer focusing on technical drills, conditioning, and heavy bag work. During these sessions, Oleksandr Usyk—who previously defeated Joshua in two bouts—was present and seen providing technical advice to the Briton.

Speculation regarding Joshua’s next opponent remains active, with long-time rival Dillian Whyte mentioned as a potential candidate as he also works his way back into the sport.

Additionally, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has signaled that movement is happening behind the scenes. Hearn recently shared an image captioned “loading” and confirmed on *The Ariel Helwani Show* that Joshua remains committed to their professional partnership. Hearn noted that Joshua had recently received and swiftly rejected an offer from a rival promoter, emphasizing the loyalty and cohesion of their current team.
