A young mother who came to Huntsville from Ukraine in 2018 with a Master’s degree in economics said she does not mind one bit that she is working as a room attendant at Deerhurst Resort.
Daria Coulombe relocated to Canada to marry a man from Huntsville she had met through mutual friends. She now has permanent residency and is seeking her Canadian citizenship. Coulombe would like to find work in her chosen field but said her position at Deerhurst is just fine for now.
“I really like my job. The resort treats its employees very well. Even my three kids have access to the indoor pool,” Coulombe said. “When I got here my English was terrible but it is much better now. I couldn’t get a job in economics when I arrived. I simply could not speak English well enough.”
