Fans of Mila Koveshnikova are in for a treat thanks to a collection of fantastical paintings coming to the Hope Art Gallery in August.
From Aug. 1 to Aug. 28, the gallery is hosting “Colored Fantasy,” a show featuring the works of the Ukrainian and Hope artist. Running in the Backroom gallery, the collection displays a series of paintings, wooden sculptures and fabric products centred around the artist’s search for new styles and “improving the artistic expression of her inner world.”
This is Koveshnikova’s second official show with the gallery. It is her hope that her exhibit will surprise and interest visitors, and reveal facets of her “personal exposition.” Koveshnikova’s show will feature landscape pieces full of detail, and cheerful colours and atmosphere, as well as wildlife such as bears and bison. Her work in the show explores different genres such as fantasy, and the use of different materials and mediums like acrylic, ink, pastel, oil, canvas, paper, and aged wood. Artwork with Ukrainian motifs will also be on display.
