Anthony Joshua trainer confirmed ahead of comeback as heavyweight links up with Oleksandr Usyk

Two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has restarted training under coach Iegor Golub as he prepares for a fight later this year. Joshua had taken time off after being involved in a fatal crash in Nigeria last year that resulted in the deaths of two of his close friends.

While there had been speculation linking Joshua to a major bout against rival Tyson Fury, who is reportedly coming out of retirement soon, Joshua is currently working with Golub, who previously assisted him leading up to his knockout victory over Jake Paul. During training sessions, Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated Joshua twice previously, was also present and observed giving the British boxer technical guidance during a kettlebell exercise.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has been hinting at upcoming news for the fighter, noting that Joshua recently turned down an offer from a competing promoter. Hearn emphasized the strong partnership with Joshua, stating they remain a united team.

In other boxing news, there was mention of potential comeback opponents for Joshua, including fellow British heavyweight Dillian Whyte.
